I have been trying to unplug a little bit more often. Its hard because, like you, being online is a big part of what I do. I write every day, I post to My Facebook Page every Day. I book clients online, I do a lot of personal and professional work on my phone and my computer every day.
There is rarely a day that goes by where I am not doing some sort of work online. I am okay with that, but sometimes we just need to decompress.
I have cut down the amount of time I spend on emails. I try and schedule in my ’email time’ at certain times of the day rather than just checking it and getting wrapped up in responding to everyone the minute they message me. Some days I get close to 100 emails and it can get overwhelming if I don’t schedule a specific time just to respond. (I do check daily at least though, so rest assured if you email me, I will get back to you).
I am committing to myself that I am going to get outside more. I used to get outside a lot more than I have been, walks at the river was my favourite. I had hurt my ankle last year though and couldn’t go for my walks as often as I used to. I am happy to say that my ankle is about 95% healed now so it shouldn’t be something that stops me from enjoying the outdoors.
I came across this video today and wanted to share it with you. I think it is awesome and that you might enjoy it as well. Not sure if its more ‘giggles’ or just ‘sad’ that we have become so plugged in.
Its a really good reminder that we need to keep what is important in our lives and what will energize us and make us feel good.
